Update: 03-04/03.
I am presenting a paper entitled "The Electric Orient: Bi-musicality and Middle Eastern Inflections in British Electronica" at NCCSEM 2003. It contains some of my recent ideas on
study of fusion genres in terms of bi-musicality, tri-musicality, and the like, and as such moves the analysis towards processes of learning, interpretive moves,
cultural practices, and the like, and away from the typical "electronica is sampling for a post-modern era" polemic. I'm looking -- very actively looking -- for feedback on this,
and other ideas I've been floating around.
I used to host an information page on rebetika music... it has moved here...
You may be interested in my newer projects:
± musiq.com, for world and experimental music, and early research into Greek Rebetika, makam, ambient music and more.
± 3spell.com, for my band 3spell
± basquerole, my recording collaboration with Dan Fries
± Ladi Dell'aira, CMT, my wife's healing arts web site
Note: After years of non-access to this page, I am finally able to update it with more current information. I apologize for leftovers from time past that persisted on this site,
and appreciate the web community for responding in due form!
